- FB VONTA LEACH TO MAKE DECISION ON NEW TEAM WITHIN TWO WEEKS - Vonta Leach became a free agent last week following the Baltimore Ravens decision to release him after they couldn’t find a team interested in becoming a trade partner for the 31-year-old fullback and his $4.33 million cap hit in 2013. Leach is drawing interest from several teams, and says he will make a decision on which team he will sign with within the next two weeks, Tony Castleberry of the Daily Reflector reports. Leach, a nine-year veteran, has only 24 carries for 70 yards and three touchdowns during his NFL career. But he is considered to be the best lead blockers in the league and is a great safety-valve receiver out of the backfield. He’s accumulated 112 receptions for 749 yards and four touchdowns. Leach has already made visits to Miami and Houston, where he played from 2006-2010 and according to several reports, is his top choice to sign with. Three other teams are reportedly interested in signing Leach: the Chiefs, Giants and Browns. And it’s possible he could return to Baltimore at a reduced salary. (Photo: Harry How/Getty Images)

- CHAD JOHNSON TO BE RELEASED FROM JAIL TODAY - Former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson is being released immediately from jail after apologizing to a judge for lack of respect when he slapped his attorney on the butt during his court hearing last week. Broward County Circuit Judge Kathleen McHugh accepted Johnson’s apology Monday and reduced his jail term from 30 days to seven days. Attorney Adam Swickle said the rear-end slap was just a football player’s way of saying thanks. Johnson, 35, was in court for violating terms of his probation, which stemmed from an altercation that involved his assault on his ex-wife Evelyn Lozada. Johnson initially was going to be released without serving any jail time, but after slapping his attorney on the butt in celebration of that initial ruling, the judge sentenced him to 30 days in jail for insubordination Johnson was cut by the Miami Dolphins after the incident with Lozada. He played most of his 11 NFL seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals and a year with the New England Patriots. (Photo: Associated Press)
